Three dogs found dead by mail carrier
LAINGSBURG, MI (WLNS) – After a mail carrier found three dead dogs in the middle of the road, 6 News Alexis Rosado went out to try and find some answers.
Now the image of the three dead dogs has many people wondering.
A mail carrier posted this picture of three dogs dead on Laingsburg’s Upton Road during her route, she writes.
“I am so sorry and it’s horrible but it was recommended that I post this so that the person/persons responsible will be found and hopefully the owner will be notified.”
Clinton County Animal Control responded to the scene around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
According to Undersheriff Larry Jerue, at first they believed the animals may have been shot, but close examinations led to a different story.
“Given the trauma, the injuries that occurred, the dogs appear to have been struck by a vehicle,” said Undersheriff Larry Jerue, Clinton County.
The one black lab, and two brown and black hound mixes, had no collars, or chips, leaving police unable to identify the owner of the dogs.
6 News spoke with a neighbor who said there were four dogs spotted at 12:30 am. and she believes these three were a part of that pack.
“Whoever struck them had to have realized that they struck them and then left the scene without making any report.”
Neighbors believe the dogs were running in the street when hit.
But if this is a hit and run, Undersheriff Jerue says the person responsible, is still obligated to turn themselves in.
“It is a misdemeanor not to report that type of accident, where there is damage to your vehicle.”
There are no suspects and Clinton County Animal Control continues to look into this case.
